I’m starting a brand new photo-a-day challenge here on the blog for all you that enjoy taking and/or editing photos. You do not have to be a photographer to participate! Any one of you can pick up a camera or smart phone and snap a picture. You probably do it quite frequently of your children anyway, right? I hope so! ;)I’m sure many of you have seen the “photo-a-day challenges” on some of the social media sites like Facebook and particularly Instagram. I participated in my first one this month on Instagram and had a really great time so I was thinking it would be fun to host my own.
Lets have some fun during the oftentimes busy and hectic month of December. Reminding yourself that you need to take a picture each day makes you a little more aware of your surroundings and the special moments that may otherwise get overlooked. It’s easy to go several days, weeks, and even months without taking pictures if we’re not careful. This will be a great way to keep record of what you did during the month and to see how your little ones are growing.
The picture above shows each daily “theme” for your pictures. On day 1 you take a picture of your family, whether the entire family or just two or three of you; it’s completely up to you. Then you post that picture on Facebook or Instagram and use the hashtag #rmaphotoaday. All the pictures during the month of December will focus on Christmas, family, and winter.
Don’t know what a hashtag is? Adding the # symbol before a relevant keyword or phrase allows your word or phrase to be searched for on social media sites such as Twitter, Instagram, and now Facebook if you have a PUBLIC account (not a private account). If you have a private account only your friends or followers will see your pictures.
You can do as much or as little photo editing as you’d like.
I plan to pick up to 4 photos per day to feature on Instagram (that’s where I’ll be posting my pics). These don’t have to be the best edited or the pretties pictures.
Here are a few of the pictures I used for the November Photo-a-Day Challenge I participated in…..
The word was “necessity”. It was a necessity that we visited the park that particular day.
So, are you in? If so, start taking and sharing your pictures on December 1. Be sure to use the hashtag #rmaphotoaday so that I, and everyone else, can see them. We all like to look at pictures, right? I’d love to feature you.
If you miss a day, or two or three, don’t worry about it. You can either make the day up or skip it completely. Don’t stress out about it. Just have a good time!
I’d love it if you would share this post on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and/or Pinterest so we can have lots of participants.
